Our commitment to sustainability is also reflected in our commitment to renewable energy within our hotels. Among the most notable actions is the installation of solar panels in our accommodations.

PITEIB subsidy and solar panels in Gran Sagitario

Thanks to the Balearic Islands Energy Transition Investment Plan (PITEIB), funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU, the Hotel Gran Sagitario has installed a solar panel system that allows us to move towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy model.

What do we achieve with this action?

Clean energy production for self-consumption.
Commitment to renewable energy sources in our eco-friendly hotels.
Lower carbon footprint and improved environmental quality in a responsible tourism setting.
A firm step forward within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR).

A firm commitment to environmental innovation

Sagitario Hotels has received support from the de minimis aid programme to promote energy efficiency and circular economy improvement projects in tourist establishments, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), with funding from the European Union – NextGenerationEU. Thanks to this line of support, we have carried out specific improvements in four of our sustainable hotels in Menorca.

Installation of air curtains to minimise heat exchange in common areas.
Automation of accesses through automatic doors that reduce climate control losses.
Infrastructure for waste management, as part of our sustainable and circular tourism model.

BGreenMenorca: Sustainability with a local stamp

Through the BGreenMenorca 2024 programme, Sagitario Hotels has begun to implement real and tangible improvements linked to two key areas of the aid plan: sustainable green areas and water efficiency. Both actions are part of the Menorca Biosphere Reserve Action Plan 2018–2025 and are promoted by the Menorca Island Council.

Sustainable green areas and biomass management

We encourage the use of native vegetation, efficient irrigation systems and habitats for local wildlife, improving landscape integration and biodiversity.

These interventions not only improve maintenance efficiency, but also create spaces that are more resilient, sustainable and in tune with Menorca's natural environment.

Water efficiency

We implement solutions to reduce water consumption and promote reuse, such as rainwater harvesting systems, water-saving toilets and smart irrigation management.

Small technical decisions that, when added together, create a more responsible hotel model with the scarcest resource in the Mediterranean.

Thanks to this programme, we are strengthening our commitment to a greener Menorca, involving our accommodation providers in actions that protect the environment on a daily basis. The Sagitario establishments that have received this aid are: Gran Sagitario, Menorca Mar, Princesa Playa, Sagitario Playa and Petit Sagitario.
