There is another way to experience Menorca once summer comes to an end. The days are still perfect for spending time outdoors, the island returns to a slower pace and the bicycle becomes the ideal companion for discovering landscapes, country lanes, the coast and the island's interior.
Cycling in Menorca offers a different way to experience the island. Travel at your own pace, let each day find its own rhythm and combine sport, nature, gastronomy and relaxation. Whether you enjoy road cycling or mountain biking, or simply want to discover Menorca by bike, autumn opens up a particularly appealing season for cycling.
And in 2026 there is another reason to do so: the 20th edition of the Volta Menorca BTT, which will once again bring mountain bike enthusiasts together during October.
Cycling in Menorca: an island to enjoy on two wheels
Cycling in autumn reveals a different Menorca from the one experienced during the height of summer. The landscape takes centre stage again, and a bike ride can easily become the thread that connects an entire day.
Cycling in Menorca allows you to alternate between secondary roads, country lanes and more technical routes depending on your type of bike, level and appetite for adventure. Some days are made for training and clocking up kilometres, while others are for riding without watching the time, stopping in a village, heading towards the sea or quietly exploring the countryside.
That is precisely one of the attractions of a cycling getaway on the island: not every day needs to be approached as a sporting challenge. A bicycle can also become a way of travelling and connecting with the destination.
The generally milder temperatures of autumn also make this time of year particularly appealing for those who prefer to avoid the heat of the height of summer. It is a season for riding at an easier pace and planning routes where the landscape and the experience matter just as much as the kilometres.
Menorca by bike: experiences for every type of cyclist
There is no single way to discover Menorca by bike.
Those travelling with a road bike can enjoy long rides through the interior and connect different areas of the island. Mountain bike enthusiasts will find varied terrain and more technical routes, while an electric bike makes it possible to enjoy more relaxed days where the main aim is simply to explore.
Every ride can also become a different kind of plan: a morning on the bike followed by an afternoon of relaxation; a route combining rural landscapes and coastline; a more demanding ride followed by a leisurely meal; or several days of cycling alternated with time to discover Ciutadella and enjoy Menorca's gastronomy and slower rhythm.
If you are looking for specific routes to organise your getaway, you can continue planning your trip with our guide to cycling routes in Menorca, where you will find ideas for different ways to explore the island on two wheels.
The journey therefore begins by deciding how you want to experience cycling and continues by choosing the routes that best suit your level and expectations.
In autumn, the sporting calendar offers yet another reason to travel.
Mountain biking in Menorca: an autumn beyond the tarmac
For mountain bike enthusiasts, Menorca BTT 2026 opens the door to a particularly dynamic side of the island.
The combination of country lanes, forest tracks and more technical terrain makes it possible to plan very different kinds of rides. Certain sections of the Camí de Cavalls add even more variety, with terrain that changes considerably from one area to another and, in some places, requires experience and confident bike handling.
It is precisely this diversity that allows mountain biking to reveal so many different landscapes within a single getaway. In just a few kilometres, a route can move from rural countryside to the coast, cross wooded areas and reconnect with traditional paths.
Autumn is particularly well suited to this way of discovering Menorca: the landscape is no longer simply the backdrop but becomes part of the experience itself.
And October 2026 brings a particularly important date for the cycling calendar.
Volta Menorca BTT 2026: three days cycling across the island
From 9 to 11 October 2026, Menorca will host the 20th Volta Menorca BTT, a special edition of one of the island's most established autumn cycling events.
The first day takes place on Friday 9 October in Es Migjorn Gran, with a night stage of approximately 40 kilometres. The route starts in the municipality, crosses estates and tracks before joining the Camí de Cavalls towards Binigaus, and continues through the Son Boter ravine, country lanes and forest tracks.
On Saturday 10, the Volta moves to Alaior for the longest stage of the event. Its approximately 70 kilometres combine country lanes, forest tracks, technical sections and parts of the Camí de Cavalls, reaching places such as the Parc Natural de s'Albufera des Grau and the Sa Mesquida area before returning to Alaior.
The third and final day takes place on Sunday 11 October in Es Mercadal. Northern Menorca takes centre stage on a demanding route that passes through the Camí d'en Kane, Cala Tirant, Playas de Fornells and new sections of the Camí de Cavalls before returning to Es Mercadal, where the edition will conclude with a closing celebration.
The Volta Menorca BTT also retains its non-competitive character: the aim is to enjoy the routes, the landscape and the shared experience, adapting the pace to the group and the characteristics of each stage.

Bike-friendly: travelling to Menorca with your bicycle
When cycling is part of the trip, your choice of accommodation matters too.
Being bike-friendly goes well beyond simply being able to arrive at the hotel with a bicycle. During a multi-day cycling getaway, it is especially useful to have a suitable place to store your bike, clean it after a ride and carry out any small maintenance tasks that may be needed before heading out again.
For cyclists travelling with their own equipment, having these facilities makes the practical side of the trip considerably easier. Less time spent dealing with logistics means more time to prepare the route, relax and enjoy each day.
When organising a cycle tourism getaway in Menorca, it is therefore worth thinking not only about the routes you want to complete, but also about the place you will return to after each ride.
Basecamp & Recovery: Petit Sagitario, your bike-friendly base in Menorca
Ride, return, recover and repeat.
That is the idea behind Basecamp & Recovery: having a base from which to set out each morning and discover Menorca, and a place to return to afterwards, slow down and make time for relaxation.
In Cala Santandria, close to Ciutadella, Petit Sagitario brings both sides of the experience together. This adults-only hotel offers a concept particularly suited to cycle tourism and provides access to country lanes, coastal routes and different cycling options around Ciutadella.
Its bike-friendly facilities include bicycle hire and a dedicated space where guests can store their bikes, wash them and carry out their own maintenance before or after each ride.
The hotel does not carry out these maintenance tasks itself; instead, cyclists have access to a suitable base and the resources they need to look after their own equipment during their stay.
That is Basecamp: preparing for the day, checking your bike, planning the route and setting out to discover the island.
An active getaway also needs its Recovery side.
Inside Petit Sagitario you will find Ona Spa, an adults-only wellness space with a heated pool, jacuzzi, Vichy shower, solarium and halotherapy room, as well as treatments and massages that can be booked separately.
Ride, return, recover and repeat.
After the kilometres comes the time to change pace: store the bike, recharge and allow relaxation to become part of the journey too.
One day can begin on the bike and end in the spa. The next morning, Menorca is waiting outside again.
Cycle tourism in Menorca: when cycling becomes part of the journey
Cycle tourism in Menorca invites you to see the bicycle as more than a sporting activity and instead make it part of the way you discover the destination.
You can organise a getaway around the Volta Menorca BTT, travel with your own bicycle to explore the island at your own pace, or simply include several rides as part of an active holiday in Menorca with time for Ciutadella, the sea, gastronomy and wellbeing too.
The number of kilometres matters less than choosing the kind of experience you want to enjoy.
A route can finish by the sea. A sporty morning can continue with a leisurely lunch. After a more demanding ride, the afternoon can be dedicated to relaxation and the spa.
That balance is part of the journey too.
Because when summer ends, Menorca does not stop. It simply changes pace.
And autumn may be the perfect time to follow that rhythm on two wheels.

It is a particularly appealing season for combining cycling, nature, gastronomy and wellbeing in the same getaway. As with any outdoor activity, it is advisable to check the weather forecast before each ride and adapt your route to the conditions on the day.
When does the Volta Menorca BTT 2026 take place?
The 20th Volta Menorca BTT takes place from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 October 2026. The programme includes an opening night stage in Es Migjorn Gran, a second day in Alaior and a final stage starting and finishing in Es Mercadal.
Is the Volta Menorca BTT a competition?
No. The event regulations expressly state that it is not a competitive race. This does not mean that all the routes are easy: some sections are technically demanding and require preparation appropriate to each participant's level.
Can you cycle along the Camí de Cavalls?
Yes, the Camí de Cavalls can be cycled along different sections, but conditions are not the same throughout the entire route. Some stretches have rugged or technically demanding terrain, while others are not equally suitable for bicycles. It is therefore advisable to choose specific stages according to your level, type of bike and route conditions, always respecting signage and the natural environment.
